Carolina, Language Acquisition Consultant for Spanish speakers Carolina is a psychologist by profession. She first came to India in 1998. Spanish is her mother tongue, but she also speaks English, Portuguese, and Urdu. She draws on her own language learning and cross cultural experiences as she trains Spanish speakers in language acquisition techniques and cross cultural living. She joined OSLS in 2007 and currently teaches Stage 1 camps. Don and Nancy, Language Acquisition Consultants for English speakers Don and Nancy are Americans who live in New Delhi with their two teenage boys. They have studied Urdu in Pakistan and have taught courses in Urdu. They have twenty years of experience living in South Asia. Don and Nancy have just recently joined OSLS and teach Hindi and Urdu Stage 1 Camps, drawing on their own Urdu learning experience and their passion for language acquisition. Dwight and Laurel, Language Acquisition Consultants for English speaker, SOPI Administrator Dwight and Laurel are Americans who live in Jaipur. Dwight is our SOPI administrator, has studied Urdu in Pakistan and at Delhi University, has worked as a supervisor in an Urdu language school, and is teaching himself Hindi. Laurel is also fluent in Urdu and works developing Urdu language learning aids as well as assisting Dwight. They have been living in South Asia since 1987 and have three teenage sons. Gio, his wife and four children have come from Guatemala to settle down in New Delhi. His educational background is engineering and accounting. Gio is fluent in three languages and has been an instructor and coach for both Spanish and English speakers learning Hindi or Urdu. He has lived in India since 2002 and has been with OSLS since 2004. Lon and Sarah's passion for language grew in Mexico, where they learned Spanish before arriving in India to learn Hindi through OSLS. Their practical experience through all three OSLS Stages contribute much to their coaching and consulting services, which have benefited many language learners in the cities where they have lived. Lon and Sarah currently live in Dehradun and collaborate with Dwight and Laurel in administering Hindi SOPI evaluations. Matt, Language Acquisition Consultant for English speakers
Matt is from Canada and has been living in Varanasi since 2006. He has been a language learner himself in OSLS program. He also completed the grammar course at Landour Language School. Matt recently joined the OSLS team and has been able to work closely with Lowell, who started the OSLS program. He currently teaches Hindi Camps for Stage 1 and Stage 2, making use of his BA in Applied Linguistics and his personal experience of learning Hindi. Roger, Language Acquisition Consultant for English speakers
Roger has been working with OSLS since the very early days of the program. He developed the Urdu version of the materials and continues to teach camps in Urdu as well as Hindi. Sungil, Language Acquisition Consultant for Korean speakers
Sungil has lived in India for 9 years and is a self taught Hindi student and proficient speaker. She has translated and adapted the Stage 1 Hindi materials for Korean clients, and is currently working on finishing Stage 2. She teaches Stage 1 Camps in Korean. Susie, Language Acquisition Consultant for English and Spanish speakers, RegistrarSusie grew up speaking English and Spanish. She is an elementary school teacher by profession and taught in Chicago, USA for six years before coming to India in 2005. She has gone through the OSLS program herself and is a Hindi camp instructor in English and Spanish. She joined the OSLS staff in 2007.
